Which clean do you need?

A regular clean keeps a home that’s already in good shape tidy. A deep clean, by contrast, is a one-off that covers what a regular clean doesn’t. So it’s a good starting point before regular visits begin. An end of tenancy clean is a deep clean aimed at the check-in inventory, so check that inventory first.

End of tenancy cleaning and your deposit

In England, landlords must protect a tenant’s deposit in a government-approved scheme. At the end of the tenancy, the landlord can then propose deductions for cleaning beyond fair wear and tear. However, under the Tenant Fees Act 2019, a landlord can’t make you pay for a professional clean. You just need to return the property as clean as it was when you moved in.
